Together the discusses security in the Black Sea region.
At the end of last week, Secretary of Defense Lloyd J. Austin III met with Romanian Defense Minister Angel Tilvar at the Pentagon. Romania is one of NATO’s frontline states against Russia, and has been hosting an increased number of NATO and U.S. troops in the wake of Russia’s invasion on Ukraine. Romania has also been a part of the Ukraine Defense Contact Group since its beginning, helping to aid Ukraine in multiple defense efforts.
“I saw the outstanding relationship between our two militaries firsthand when I visited, visited [Mihail Kogalniceanu] air base, and your generous support has bolstered deterrence along NATO’s eastern flank,” Secretary Austin said. “We’re also very grateful to the Romanian people for welcoming more than 3 million Ukrainian refugees and helping provide them with humanitarian assistance.”
As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…
- For Secretary Austin as he coordinates global defense efforts with American allies.
- That this meeting with Defense Minister Tilvar was productive for both the U.S. and Romania.
- That the Lord enacts a quick end to Russia’s attack on Ukraine.
