April 4th – Tuesday

Two are better than one, because they have a good reward for their toil. – Ecclesiastes 4:9

President William Henry Harrison became the first U.S. President to die in office 182 years ago today. Having only taken office 32 days before, he holds the record for the shortest presidential term served. President Harrison also holds the record for the longest inaugural address, as his speech lasted an hour and forty-five minutes. Following his speech, which was delivered outdoors on a frigid March morning, he developed a cold, which turned into a fatal case of pneumonia. The end of President Harrison’s life shows how uncertain the future is and how susceptible humanity can be to illness or disease. As you pray today, ask for not just physical, but spiritual and emotional health for the president and federal officials. Pray that the Lord would enlighten the eyes of the hearts of public officials at all levels of government.

As the Lord leads, pray with us…

  • For the president and those in his administration to come to know the Savior and accept His lordship.
  • For the health and wellbeing of public servants in mind and soul as well as body.
