Manhattan Grand Jury Indicts Former President Trump

Following a yearslong investigation regarding payments of hush money, a Manhattan grand jury voted to indict former President Donald Trump on criminal charges Thursday afternoon. The full indictment is expected to be announced in the coming days by District Attorney Alvin Bragg.   

The specific charges have not yet been spelled out. Former President Trump would be the first ever to face criminal charges. The announcement is already sparking commotion on Capitol Hill. House Speaker Kevin McCarthy urged people not to protest until an investigation was completed.

Experts believe that his indictment could have wide-ranging political and national implications.

President Joe Biden and White House officials have made no comments at this time.
