Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind. – Romans 12:2

When you consider transformation, what comes to mind? Maybe you think of the toys that children have with movable parts that make a robot out of a vehicle, or perhaps the process that a caterpillar goes through to become a moth or butterfly. The term “metamorphosis” comes from the Greek word meaning “to transform.” In the Disney movie, Beauty and the Beast, the self-centered prince is transformed into a beast and then back into his human self after he learns to love. In this world, there is pressure to conform to its standards. Today’s passage urges you to renew your mind, so you will be transformed into the likeness of Christ. Renewal is a process, not unlike the pupae as they transition from the immature stage to the mature stage. Today, continue to reach for this spiritual maturity that comes through internalizing the Lord’s truth.

As the Lord leads, pray with us…

  • For members of the House and Senate as they transform the nation through acts and legislation that they pass.
  • For members of the federal judiciary as they interpret and set precedents in American law through their decisions.
