Shooting in Nashville Christian School

FBI and ATF are investigating the shooting that killed 6 and left more wounded.

Police in Nashville, Tennessee, reported that a shooter entered a private Christian school Monday morning, killing three children, three adults and leaving others injured. The gunman was killed by police.

“[Three] pediatric patients were transported to Monroe Carell Jr. Children’s Hospital at Vanderbilt, all having suffered gunshot wounds. All three were pronounced dead after arrival,” John Howser, chief communications officer for Vanderbilt University Medical Center, said in a statement.

Nashville Mayor Freddie O’Connell said in a statement: “Nashville has, sadly, today joined the communities that have experienced a school shooting. For now, my focus is turning to supporting the impacted families and revisiting our efforts to prevent these horrifying scenarios.”

The FBI and the Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms & Explosives agency are on the scene along with local law enforcement investigating the incident.

Covenant School teaches pre-K through sixth grade, and has around 200 students enrolled.

President Joe Biden said after hearing the news, “It’s heartbreaking, a family’s worst nightmare.” He added, “We have to do more to stop gun violence. It’s ripping our communities apart, ripping at the very soul of the nation. We have to do more to protect our schools so they aren’t turned into prisons.”

As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…

  • For God’s grace and mercy to be on the children and families from the shooting at the elementary school in Nashville.
  • For local and federal authorities as they investigate the possible motive of the shooter.
  • For God to direct national leaders as they look for ways to curb gun violence across America.
