U.S. Launches Retaliatory Airstrike in Syria

The action was prompted by an Iranian drone strike that killed one American.

The U.S. military carried out airstrikes in Syria on Thursday after an Iranian drone had struck a coalition base killing one American contractor. Five American servicemen were wounded and transported to a hospital in Iraq.

“As President Biden has made clear, we will take all necessary measures to defend our people and will always respond at a time and place of our choosing,” Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin said. ”No group will strike our troops with impunity.”

Secretary Austin made clear the strike was “in response” to the drone attack by Iranian forces and a series of other attacks against U.S. and coalition forces in Syria carried out recently by groups affiliated with the Iranian Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps.

Roughly 100 American troops are deployed to Syria.

As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…

  • For Secretary Austin to seek God’s direction as he heads the Defense Department.
  • For U.S. military personnel and contractors in Syria as Iranian attacks continue.
