Federal Judge Expects Ruling Soon on Abortion Pill

FDA approval and authority are at issue.

The Food and Drug Administration has a process for approving or recalling a drug in the marketplace. Their authority has been challenged in federal court with respect to the agency’s approval of a widely used abortion pill.

A hearing on the case was held this week, and the judge said he is poised to rule “as soon as possible” on the suspension of the FDA’s approval and reversal of the agency’s drug regulatory authority.

The plaintiffs have said that the abortion pills, which are available through U.S. Postal Service delivery, provide an unsafe “do-it-yourself” pregnancy termination, which can be harmful to women and available to be used indiscriminately by sex traffickers, for example.

The Justice Department’s associate attorney general said taking the drug from the marketplace “would work severe harm to all who rely on the medication.”

As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…

  • For wisdom for the federal judge as he considers the evidence and arguments in the case.
  • For the Lord to touch the hearts and minds of Americans to recognize the value of human life.
  • For God’s purposes to be accomplished in the United States.
