February 9th – Thursday

God is able to make all grace abound to you, so that having all sufficiency in all things at all times, you may abound in every good work. – 2 Corinthians 9:8

Today’s verse is set in the context of generosity. The apostle Paul was preparing to visit the Corinthian church, whose zeal for the ministry of the gospel had inspired others. These believers had also pledged a large gift to support the work that Paul was doing, and he wanted to ensure that his confidence in their pledge would not end in embarrassment for all concerned! He encourages them to be ready to give their bounteous donation cheerfully. In the wake of the pandemic, many people have struggled financially. Even followers of Christ may be tempted to hoard what they have, instead of giving and sharing. Perhaps you have no material “treasure” to offer; however, God has provided you with time and talent. Are you investing these in His good work? As you pray for the nation, let the Lord show you where you may give for His kingdom today.

As the Lord leads, pray with us…

  • For Administrator Samantha Power and officials within USAID as they provide civilian foreign aid and development assistance internationally.
  • For federal officials in the executive and legislative branches as they consider humanitarian needs and assistance across the globe.
