House Might Not Vote on Government TikTok Ban

Speaker desires to review language with the administration.

After legislation to ban the social media app TikTok on United States government devices, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi expressed uncertainty about the House taking up a vote. Companion legislation was introduced to the House by Representatives Mike Gallagher of Wisconsin and Raja Krishnamoorthi of Illinois.

Some state governments, such as Texas and Maryland, have already banned the app on state devices due to the security risks recently outlined by FBI Director Chris Wray.

“We’re checking with the administration – just in terms of language – not in terms of being opposed to the idea,” stated Speaker Pelosi. “I don’t know that that will be on the agenda next week, but it’s very, very important.”

As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…

  • For the House speaker as she consults with the White House on the TikTok ban.
  • For members of Congress as they seek to ensure national security.
  • For federal legislators as they endeavor to prevent foreign cyber surveillance.
