Former Congresswoman Named Global Youth Envoy

She says, “Young people are driving change at home and abroad.”

Former U.S. Representative Abby Finkenauer of Iowa has been named by Secretary of State Antony Blinken to be the department’s special envoy for global youth issues.

Secretary Blinken stated the role “will encourage youth-related programming around the administration’s foreign policy priorities and existing regional initiatives, while consistently and  meaningfully consulting with young people on the formulation and implementation of relevant policies and programs.”

“She will serve as the Department’s principal public representative on youth issues, engaging a variety of stakeholders to channel their good ideas back to the Department,” Secretary Blinken said.

Ms. Finkenauer was just 25 when elected to the Iowa state House of Representatives. She is also the youngest woman in the U.S. House of Representatives to pass a bill thus far.

On her appointment, she stated, “Our young people are driving change at home & abroad. Our office will uplift their voices, fostering relationships as we advance & promote democracy. Grateful to serve.”

As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…

  • For Special Envoy Finkenauer as she prepares for her diplomatic role.
  • For Secretary Blinken to seek the Lord’s guidance as he heads the State Department.
  • For the president and his administration as they set international policies regarding children and youth.
