Senators Urge Armed Drones for Ukraine

The Pentagon had previously declined the request.

A bipartisan group of senators sent a letter to Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin this week urging President Biden’s administration to reconsider a decision it had made not to send advanced drones to Ukraine. Members of Congress had previously made a request to accelerate its review of providing the MQ-1C armed drones, called Grey Eagles.

The armed Grey Eagles can fly for more than 24 hours at medium altitude. The letter posited that the drone technology could help the Ukrainians on the battlefield while holding onto its own territory, and counter the Iranian drones being utilized by Russia.

As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…

  • For members of Congress as they encourage the president’s administration to increase aid to Ukraine.
  • For the president and his administration officials as they consider the legislators’ request.
  • For wisdom for leaders in the Pentagon as they assess the national security needs of the nation against the push to assist Ukraine.
