OFAC Sanctions Two North Korean Individuals

Treasury Department designates the pair for transporting and procuring ballistic missile supplies for DPRK.

The Department of the Treasury’s Office of Foreign Assets Control designated two individuals for illegally aiding the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea (DPRK). The individuals acted on behalf of two entities already designated by the Treasury, Air Koryo and Tornado Cash, to transport millions of dollars worth of supplies used to further the DPRK’s ballistic missile program and weapons of mass destruction research.

“Today’s sanctions action targets two key nodes of the DPRK’s weapons programs: its increasing reliance on illicit activities, including cybercrime, to generate revenue, and its ability to procure and transport goods in support of weapons of mass destruction and ballistic missile programs,” said Under Secretary of the Treasury for Terrorism and Financial Intelligence Brian Nelson.
