Hurricane Nicole Weakens After Landfall

More than 300,000 are without power in Florida.

Early Thursday morning, Nicole strengthened into a category 1 hurricane before it made landfall south of Vero Beach, Florida, then quickly weakened back to a tropical storm. The National Weather Service has cautioned of the possibility of scattered tornadoes for Florida, Georgia, and the Carolinas.

The National Weather Service issued a public advisory regarding the storm surge causing “life-threatening surf and rip current conditions.“ The service stated, “The deepest water will occur along the immediate coast near and to the north of the landfall location, where the surge will be accompanied by large and destructive waves.“

The storm system may further delay the already postponed launch of NASA’s Artemis 1 mission.

As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…

  • For state and local officials in Florida, Georgia, North and South Carolina as they deal with the severe weather from the tropical storm.
  • For the first responders and emergency workers as they seek to rescue and help people in the wake of Nicole.
