Let them have dominion over the fish of the sea and over the birds of the heavens and over the livestock and over all the Earth and over every creeping thing that creeps on the Earth.  – Genesis 1:26

At the climax of God’s creation, He set up man, made in His image, as an agent of His creative genius, charging him with authority over all creatures to lead them in glorifying God for His goodness and greatness. Although twisted by sin at the fall, God’s task for humankind to reign alongside Himself over Earth has never been revoked.

As a manager and steward in God’s image, you are a “worker” on Earth. While you are NOT called to bring cosmic chaos into order as in Creation itself, you are given a job to do. Working in God’s image means bringing HIS purposes for life and light, beauty, restoration, redemption, and salvation to the forefront of all you do, rather than laboring towards your own desires.

You are not just “doing your job” today. As God’s representative, your time, your relationships, and even your imagination are God’s toolbox. Great personalities across history, as well as countless ordinary citizens, all fall under the same assignment: “Having been predestined according to the purpose of Him who works all things according to the counsel of His will so that we who were the first to hope in Christ might be to the praise of His glory” (Ephesians 1:11-12).

Make your agenda God’s acclaim in all that you do. Pray for those creating the vision for America’s laws and governance to be dedicated to God’s will in their goals as well. Ask the Lord to use your efforts in accomplishing His plan for the restoration of Earth, bringing praise to His name through His faithful people.

Today’s Verse: Genesis 1:26

Then God said, “Let us make man in our image, after our likeness. And let them have dominion over the fish of the sea and over the birds of the heavens and over the livestock and over all the earth and over every creeping thing that creeps on the earth.”

Return, O Lord! How long?
    Have pity on your servants!
14 Satisfy us in the morning with your steadfast love,
    that we may rejoice and be glad all our days.
15 Make us glad for as many days as you have afflicted us,
    and for as many years as we have seen evil.
16 Let your work be shown to your servants,
    and your glorious power to their children.
17 Let the favor of the Lord our God be upon us,
    and establish the work of our hands upon us;
    yes, establish the work of our hands!
