Sunday, October 9

Ahead of the week, President Joe Biden announced that this week is National Fire Prevention Week. From October 9th through October 15th, “We also honor the bravery and heroism of our firefighters, who gear up time and again and rush into harm’s way to protect our communities,” the president said.

“In the past year, our Nation has suffered some of its deadliest fires in recent history,” he continued. “We are also reminded of the character of our Nation’s firefighters, who put their lives on the line with remarkable selflessness and extraordinary bravery that inspire everyone.” The president added that, during the week, the nation honors “the bravery and heroism of our firefighters, who gear up time and again and rush into harm’s way to protect our communities.”

The president concluded by ordering all flags to be flown at half-staff today, “in honor of the National Fallen Firefighters Memorial Service.”

As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…

  • For God’s hand of protection and mercy upon the thousands of firefighters and first responders around the nation that work to keep Americans safe.
  • For wisdom for the president and administration officials as they evaluate ways to improve fire safety around the nation.
  • For God to direct the president’s decision-making as he helps set policy to care for America’s firefighters.
