Secretary Austin Announces New Pentagon Press Secretary

Brigadier General Patrick Ryder to fill the position.

John Kirby left his role as Pentagon press secretary in May when he accepted his new position as the White House’s National Security Council Coordinator for Strategic Communications. Last week, Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin announced that the Pentagon’s new press secretary will be Air Force Brigadier General Patrick Ryder, who currently serves as the Air Force’s director of public affairs.

“He brings a wealth of experience, including joint and deployed assignments that will serve him well as he informs the media of our activities around the world,” Secretary Austin stated. “I am confident that I will benefit from his counsel, and that the American people will benefit from his ability to clearly and consistently communicate our efforts to protect the United States and its interests around the world,” he added.

As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…

  • For Brigadier General Ryder as he fills his new role in the Pentagon.
  • For Secretary Austin to seek God’s guidance as he heads the Defense Department.
  • For the defense secretary and Joint Chiefs of Staff as they advise the president on military matters.
