Education Department Reveals Title IX Expansion Proposal

Protections extended to include transgender.

The U.S. Department of Education commemorated the 50th anniversary of the law Title IX on Thursday. Title IX prevents schools from receiving federal funding if they are found to be discriminating based on sex.

To celebrate the anniversary, the department announced proposals to expand aspects of the regulation, extending protections to protect those of all sexual orientations, gender identities, and sex characteristics. The changes would also strengthen protections for sexual assault survivors.

“As we celebrate the 50th Anniversary of this landmark law, our proposed changes will allow us to continue that progress and ensure all our nation’s students — no matter where they live, who they are, or whom they love — can learn, grow, and thrive in school,” Education Secretary Miguel Cardona stated.

As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…

  • For officials in the Department of Education as they seek to protect students from discrimination and care for their welfare.
  • For Secretary Miguel Cardona to seek God’s wisdom as he leads the department.
