State Department Warns Russia on Lithuania

“An attack on them is an attack on us.”

Russia’s most recent threat to “the residents of Lithuania” has evoked a reminder from the State Department of America’s commitment to fight alongside any NATO allies that might come under attack.

“Lithuania is a member of the NATO alliance,” State Department spokesman Ned Price emphasized. ”We stand by the commitments that we have made to the NATO alliance. That includes, of course, a commitment to Article 5: That is the bedrock of the NATO alliance.”

Lithuania’s president, Gitanas Nausėda, said that nation will be prepared if Russia disconnects it from the regional power grid in retaliation for blocking rail shipments of some Russian goods to Moscow’s Kaliningrad exclave. No military confrontation is expected, the Lithuanian president said.

As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…

  • For Secretary Blinken to be wise in his diplomatic efforts in Europe.
  • For U.S. officials and advisors evaluating the threats of Russia against NATO allies.
  • For the president and his Cabinet as decisions are made regarding the ongoing war in Ukraine.
