President Announces More Aid for Ukraine

The $1 billion package will include more arms, ammunition, and systems.

President Biden announced on Wednesday that the U.S. will provide Ukraine with an additional $1 billion in military aid to help the country defend itself against Russia.

The news comes as Ukraine and Russia engage in a battle for control of Severodonetsk. This is the last major city still under Ukrainian control in the Luhansk region of the Dombas in eastern Ukraine. Ukraine’s president Zelensky stated that the fight for the city would determine the fate of eastern Ukraine.

The billion-dollar package will include more arms for Ukraine, such as coastal defense systems, artillery, advanced rocket systems, and ammunition. It will include weapons that can be efficiently shipped from current U.S. stockpiles and new contracts to ensure long-term supplies for that nation.

In addition, the president said another $225 million in humanitarian aid will also be forthcoming, “including by supplying safe drinking water, critical medical supplies and health care, food, shelter, and cash for families to purchase essential items.”

President Biden said, “The bravery, resilience, and determination of the Ukrainian people continues to inspire the world. And the United States, together with our allies and partners, will not waver in our commitment to the Ukrainian people as they fight for their freedom.”

The U.S. Ambassador to the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe said that Russian President Vladimir Putin still has ambitions to take over all of Ukraine, and has aspirations about other Baltic States.

As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…

  • For wisdom for U.S. officials as assistance continues to be sent to Ukraine.
  • For U.S. military leaders as they assess the U.S. supply of military equipment and weapons for national security.
  • For God’s will to be accomplished through the aid the United States is sending Ukraine.
