Air Force Reports Successful Hypersonic Weapons Test

Air-launched Rapid Response Weapon launched from California.

The Air Force conducted tested an AGM-183A Air-launched Rapid Response Weapon this month, which performed as expected. The 419th Flight Test Squadron conducted the test at the Edwards Air Force Base in California. The weapon was launched from an aircraft and traveled for its expected duration at five times the speed of sound.

“This was a major accomplishment by the ARRW team, for the weapons enterprise, and our Air Force,” said Brigadier General Heath Collins, Air Force Program Executive Officer for Weapons. “The team’s tenacity, expertise, and commitment were key in overcoming the past year’s challenges to get us to the recent success. We are ready to build on what we’ve learned and continue moving hypersonics forward.”

As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…

  • For leaders in the Defense Department to seek God’s wisdom as they seek to keep the U.S. competitive in defense technology.
  • That Brigadier General Collins would be discerning as he heads the USAF weapons program.
