DHS Funds Preparedness Program

$1.6 billion allocated for eight preparedness grants.

Secretary of Homeland Security Alejandro Mayorkas announced on Friday that his department has allocated $1.6 billion to eight preparedness grant programs. The department decided to add to the programs’ budgets for the Fiscal Year 2022 after the Congregation Beth Israel synagogue in Colleyville, Texas, experienced a hostage situation at the hands of a domestic terrorist earlier this year.

“With this year’s grant awards, DHS is prioritizing support to state, local, tribal, territorial, and campus law enforcement efforts more than ever before,” said Secretary Mayorkas. “Through these efforts, the Department is supporting law enforcement’s ability to understand, recognize, prepare for, prevent, and respond to pre-operational activity and other crimes that are precursors or indicators of terrorist activity.”

As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…

  • For federal, state, and local law enforcement officers as preparedness initiatives are implemented.
  • For Homeland Security officials as they address terrorism through grant funding.
  • For U.S. officials as they work to identify and prevent extremist and terrorist threats.
