House Approves $40 Billion Ukraine Relief Package

Spending bill passed in a vote of 368 to 57.

The House of Representatives approved President Joe Biden’s proposed spending package to aid in Ukraine’s defense against Russia. The president had initially asked for $33 billion in the package, but legislators decided to increase the funding to $40 billion to sponsor more military and humanitarian efforts. All dissenters were of the minority party, but the bill received largely bipartisan support in a vote of 368 to 57.

“This bill will protect democracy, limit Russian aggression, and strengthen our own national security, while, most importantly, supporting Ukraine,” said Representative Rosa DeLauro, chairman of the House Appropriations Committee. The bill will now move to the Senate, where it is expected to pass with a similar consensus.

As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…

  • For discernment for senators as they consider the president’s request for more aid to Ukraine.
  • For the president and his administration as they evaluate the U.S. supply of military equipment and weapons as aid continues to be sent to Ukraine.
  • For God’s purposes to be accomplished through the assistance the United States sends Ukraine.
