Mother’s Day – The Presidential Prayer Team

Remember not the sins of my youth or my transgressions. – Psalm 25:7

A mother enters a whole new world at the birth of her baby. She now experiences a love so strong it affects all her waking and sleeping hours, her decisions, and her emotions. What she has known about how life works suddenly gets turned on its head. And she may find the words of her own mother, whether she agreed with her or not, coming out of her own mouth. Motherhood not only marks the beginning of a journey toward maturity for the little one but for the mother as well.

As children grow and learn, mistakes, foolishness, and sin abound. The psalmist depicted this reality, stating, “Please, forget the sins of my youth.” A rebellious mindset is common among adolescents and teenagers. They have matured enough to see that their parents are not always right and may become contrary toward them. They are often unable to see the fact that their parents are loving, doing the best that they can, and not as dumb as youths may believe. It is easy for a teenager to transgress as they test their own ways.

The good news is that God is all-knowing, all-loving, and all-wise. He is the One who can forgive and cleanse all from their sins and transgressions. The prophet Isaiah recorded God saying, “As a mother comforts her child, so will I comfort you” (66:13). As You pray for the United States today, pray specifically for mothers—for strength and wisdom to raise their children to love and serve God and their country. Pray for wisdom in this nation to repent of sin and turn to God and His ways.

Remember not the sins of my youth or my transgressions;
    according to your steadfast love remember me,
    for the sake of your goodness, O Lord!

An excellent wife who can find?

³⁰Charm is deceitful, and beauty is vain,
    but a woman who fears the Lord is to be praised.
³¹Give her of the fruit of her hands,
    and let her works praise her in the gates.
