Pentagon Confirms North Korea Missile Launch

South Korea and Japan alerted globe to the event.

A week ago, Japanese and South Korean officials said that North Korea launched a missile into the Sea of Japan, likely testing the development of their nuclear weapons. On Thursday, the Pentagon confirmed that North Korea did indeed launch a ballistic missile, releasing a statement formally denouncing Democratic People’s Republic of Korea (DPRK).

“The United States condemns these actions and calls on the DPRK to refrain from further destabilizing acts,” U.S. Indo-Pacific Command stated. “While we have assessed that this event does not pose an immediate threat to U.S. personnel, territory, or that of our allies, we will continue to monitor the situation. The U.S. commitment to the defense of the ROK and Japan, remains ironclad.”

As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…

  • For U.S. military commanders in the Indo-Pacific as they oversee troop training and operations.
  • For Pentagon leaders as they assess the threats that face the United States.
  • For Defense Secretary Austin to be discerning in response to North Korea’s missile testing.
