Never Alone

It is the Lord who goes before you. He will be with you; he will not leave you or forsake you. – Deuteronomy 3:18

For the majority of the people in the world, the first year of the pandemic was a year of being alone. Most were separated from family, and unable to be at work, school, or church because of the mandates and fear of the virus spreading. People hunkered down in their homes or apartments to wait it out. For those who contracted illness, it was especially difficult and lonely. Many died alone.

Today’s verse is a reminder that you are never really alone if you know the Lord. He who is holy sent Jesus to die for the unholy (all people in this world). To those who believe, God gives His promise to always be with you – never will He forsake you. His presence will surround you with His love, His guidance, and His care. You will never, ever, be alone.

Though God revealed to Moses that he would not enter the Promised Land, Moses assured Israel that, as they had seen the cloud by day and the fire by night, the God of Israel would guide them into the land if they remained obedient to Him (Exodus 13:21). The Lord’s presence came with a promise. And so it is for you.

As the world is still recovering from the virus and grappling with its variants, you can have a sure footing, knowing that God is still in control and will never leave you or forsake you. Trials come and go, but He will guide you if you let Him. Pray for increased faith and ability to follow Him. Then intercede for the public officials of this nation that they may know the Lord who will go before them if they only believe in Him.

Today’s Verse: Deuteronomy 3:18

And I commanded you at that time, saying, ‘The Lord your God has given you this land to possess. All your men of valor shall cross over armed before your brothers, the people of Israel.

31 So Moses continued to speak these words to all Israel.

3 The Lord your God himself will go over before you. He will destroy these nations before you, so that you shall dispossess them, and Joshua will go over at your head, as the Lord has spoken.

5 And the Lord will give them over to you, and you shall do to them according to the whole commandment that I have commanded you. 6 Be strong and courageous. Do not fear or be in dread of them, for it is the Lord your God who goes with you. He will not leave you or forsake you.”

7 Then Moses summoned Joshua and said to him in the sight of all Israel, “Be strong and courageous, for you shall go with this people into the land that the Lord has sworn to their fathers to give them, and you shall put them in possession of it. 8 It is the Lord who goes before you. He will be with you; he will not leave you or forsake you. Do not fear or be dismayed.”
