Army Adjusts Fitness Standard Tests

Returns to pre-2019 requirements.

This past week, the U.S. Army announced that it would be returning annual fitness standards to the pre-2019 requirements, following the recommendations of the RAND Corporation.

In 2019, the Army made its annual physical fitness test more strenuous. All personnel, both on and off the field, such as senior leaders, HR workers, and chaplains, are all required to take and pass the annual physical. However, an independent report conducted by RAND found that women and people above the age of 45 were constantly lagging behind, resulting in many members being discharged for not passing.

Special Forces will continue to implement separate, rigorous physical testing, as they had prior to 2019.

As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…

  • For Defense Secretary Austin as he oversees the U.S. military.
  • For Secretary Wormuth to seek God’s leading as she heads the U.S. Army.
  • For the safety and health of all U.S. active-duty troops.
