Power in Agreement – The Presidential Prayer Team

For where two or three are gathered in my name, there am I among them. – Matthew 18:20

Agreement has many synonyms: accord, concurrence, consensus, harmony, accordance, unity, consistency, compatibility. You could probably come up with more. In context, today’s verse requires agreement. Jesus has discussed binding and loosing, and how that power extends into Heaven.

Few understand how powerful the sameness of mind can be. The apostle Paul told the Corinthian church, “Now I plead with you, brethren, by the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that you all speak the same thing (have a uniform testimony), and that there be no divisions (dissensions) among you, but that you be perfectly joined together in the same mind and in the same judgment” (1 Corinthians 1:10).

Unity and agreement are what God desires from His children. Enormous power comes from believers agreeing with God and with one another. That power is amplified by the Lord in their midst, when His presence saturates their coming together, and their focus is on Him in worship.

Pray for the members of Congress who regularly attend a Christian caucus or prayer meeting. Ask the Lord to reinforce their unity of calling and of purpose, for the benefit of the Gospel and of the United States.
