President Biden Bans Russian Energy

Says the U.S. will not subsidize “Putin’s war.”

From the White House on Tuesday, President Joe Biden announced that the U.S. is banning all oil, gas, and energy imports from Russia. Congress and Secretary of State Blinken have been publically discussing the possibilities for several days. Russia exports the most natural gas and the second-greatest amount of oil in the world.

The president said, “This is a move with strong bipartisan support in Congress and, I believe, in the country.” He added, “Americans have rallied to support their Ukrainian people and made it clear we will not be part of subsidizing Putin’s war.”

Acknowledging the price of gas would rise further, President Biden cautioned U.S. energy companies against price-gouging with the decreased supply.

As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…

  • For the president as he responds to Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.
  • For U.S. energy officials as they seek solutions to the ongoing rise in fuel prices.
  • For Congress as they consider ways to reduce the price of gasoline.
