Senator Collins Scheduled to Meet With Supreme Court Nominee

Senator from Maine considered key swing vote for Senate confirmation.

Senator Susan Collins of Maine is scheduled to meet with President Biden’s Supreme Court nominee, Judge Ketanji Brown Jackson, on Tuesday. After Judge Jackon’s nomination was announced last week, Senator Collins was uncertain she would give the nomination her vote of approval in the Senate. “I haven’t made a decision,” the senator said. “It’s a different level obviously to go to the Supreme Court and it’s absolutely essential that I sit down with her and interview her.”

Senator Collins voted to confirm Judge Jackson to the D.C. Circuit U.S. Court of Appeals last year, which has made her a key swing vote in the upcoming Senate nomination hearing. She has spoken with several leaders in the majority about the Supreme Court in the past month, including Senator Dick Durbin and President Biden.

As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…

  • For Senator Collins to seek God’s guidance in her discussions with the Supreme Court nominee.
  • For Judge Jackson as she prepares for judicial hearings.
  • For members of the Senate as they consider how to vote on presidential nominees.
