New Foundation will Honor Late Representative John Lewis

Fundraising gala to be hosted in May.

Former colleagues of the late U.S. Representative John Lewis announced the establishment of the John and Lillian Miles Lewis Foundation and an upcoming gala to celebrate its launch. Congressman Lewis was in the process of organizing the foundation before he died, hoping that it would continue representing and advocating for his values surrounding civil rights. Former counsel to Mr. Lewis, Linda Earley Chastang, is the foundation’s first president.

“Throughout their lives, the Lewises consistently demonstrated their love of learning, their unwavering devotion to helping others and their steadfast commitment to peace and building the ‘beloved community’,” Ms. Chastang stated. “They were dedicated to creating a world in which the dignity and worth of every human being is recognized and valued. We are honored to advance the Lewises’ vision,” she added.

As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…

  • For members of Congress as they support the legacy of Representative Lewis.
  • For wisdom for senators and representatives as they consider new or updated civil rights legislation.
