Attorney General Speaks at U.S. Conference of Mayors

Pledges support and commitment to keep the country safe.

The U.S. Conference of Mayors took place all last week, hosting a number of seminars and many notable speakers. Attorney General Merrick Garland spoke at the conference Friday morning, remarking on the strength required to lead American cities amidst escalating violence and terrorism, and promising the Justice Department’s continued partnership in addressing their present crises.

“The Justice Department will continue to do all it can to hold accountable those who target public servants with violence or illegal threats of violence,” said Attorney General Garland. “But as with everything I have spoken about today, we know that success in stopping this kind of violence also depends on close cooperation with our local partners — who bear the lion’s share of the burden of protecting the people of their cities.”

As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…

  • For the president and his administration as attempts are made to support local law officials around the nation.
  • For the attorney general as his department works to strengthen cooperation with municipalities.
  • For city and town officials across the country as they make decisions surrounding law enforcement.
