What Greater Security?

Do not grieve the Holy Spirit of God by whom you were sealed for the day of redemption.  – Ephesians 4:30

Most people send packages through the mail or some form of delivery service during the Christmas season. They place gifts inside of boxes, securing the parcel with packing tape and a label so that it arrives where it should. The strength and quality of the tape and the adhesive of the label determine the box arriving at the correct destination as well as the condition it is in upon its arrival!

Do you realize that Jesus has sent His Spirit to seal you in redemption? Think on this: if you have accepted Jesus Christ as your Savior, the Holy Spirit of God has come to dwell within you. He is God’s “guarantee of our inheritance [eternal life in heaven]“ (Ephesians 1:14). As a label directs where the package goes, God’s Spirit provides you direction in your journey toward Christlikeness. The Spirit is with you to be an influencer in your life and a comforter in times of need. As commentator Matthew Henry says, the Spirit is the guarantee that you will enjoy everlasting life, perfect holiness, and everlasting joys in the life to come in eternity.

Considering all that He is for you, understand that the Holy Spirit is God… constantly with you to have a loving relationship with you. Pray this nation and its leaders will accept the Lord and the salvation He offers. Remember that the Holy Spirit is sealing you unto the Lord, providing daily guidance and direction. Give Him glory for His constant presence and rely on Him with gratitude!

11 In him we have obtained an inheritance, having been predestined according to the purpose of him who works all things according to the counsel of his will, 12 so that we who were the first to hope in Christ might be to the praise of his glory. 13 In him you also, when you heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation, and believed in him, were sealed with the promised Holy Spirit, 14 who is the guarantee of our inheritance until we acquire possession of it, to the praise of his glory.

30 And do not grieve the Holy Spirit of God, by whom you were sealed for the day of redemption. 31 Let all bitterness and wrath and anger and clamor and slander be put away from you, along with all malice. 32 Be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, as God in Christ forgave you.

5 Therefore be imitators of God, as beloved children. 2 And walk in love, as Christ loved us and gave himself up for us, a fragrant offering and sacrifice to God.
