Interior Secretary Travels to South Dakota

Highlight upcoming initiatives and infrastructure projects.

Secretary of the Interior Deb Haaland was in South Dakota last week to showcase the work that the Interior Department will undertake next year. Due to increased funding from the recently passed infrastructure bill, the Interior Department will invest $466 million in initiatives to improve infrastructure in tribal lands as well as climate resilience programs.

Secretary Haaland expressed the importance of the programs, stating, “As the effects of climate change continue to intensify, Indigenous communities are facing unique challenges that pose existential threats to Tribal economies, infrastructure, livelihoods, and health. With new resources to invest in Tribal communities, we are committed to ensuring that Tribal leaders have a seat at the table and can work directly with federal officials to safeguard their communities.”

As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…

  • For Secretary Haaland to seek the Lord’s direction as she leads the Interior Department.
  • That Interior Department officials would have wisdom as they manage the nation’s natural resources.
  • For the president’s administration as they set policy for the stewardship of federal lands.
