Truly no man can ransom another or give to God the price of his life.  – Psalm 49:7

What is the price of your life? Economists have considered that question for many years. Not surprisingly there is a ratio between “cost of life” and “cost of economy“ that the federal government uses to determine policy on just about everything. The current number according to Michigan University is $10 million. Generally, the way it works is if the benefits (lives saved) exceed the cost (money) then new regulations will be out soon. The federal government also has a cost of death (currently around $800,000) included in those calculations!

While you may agree that the government has nothing to do with the actual price of your life, be aware the forces of darkness are also attempting to put an erroneous price tag on your worth! God’s enemy encourages your already guilty conscience to see your value as small because you continually fail at being “good.” But that is where the redemption of Christ comes in. Because of Jesus, God tabulates your worth based on HIS grace, not your works.

Are you looking for a reason to celebrate this holiday season? You found it! The price for your life was paid in full when Jesus gave Himself up on the cross. “For you were bought with a price. So glorify God in your body” (1Corinthians 6:20). Pray for those struggling to find meaning in this Christmas season. Ask God to prepare many hearts to reject every calculation of their own value but His, accepting the beautiful redemption paid for by Christ and offered to humankind by God’s grace.

7 In him we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of our trespasses, according to the riches of his grace, 8 which he lavished upon us, in all wisdom and insight 9 making known to us the mystery of his will, according to his purpose, which he set forth in Christ 10 as a plan for the fullness of time, to unite all things in him, things in heaven and things on earth.

11 In him we have obtained an inheritance, having been predestined according to the purpose of him who works all things according to the counsel of his will, 12 so that we who were the first to hope in Christ might be to the praise of his glory.
