The Grace Gift

We are justified by his grace as a gift, through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus.  – Romans 3:24

It is easy to focus on the Holiness of God and assume the highness of His character keeps Him locked away in realms of glory, OUTSIDE of your messy, sin-filled world. But reconsider that picture for a moment and consider the God of Glory right here in the middle of your holiday season showing up as the best gift-giver ever.

In the first acts of creation, God built an environment specifically for you, giving you Earth as a home and a place to meet Him. Sun, moon, and stars were set in place so you could get an idea of His size and power. Life itself is given to you so you might seek Him as the Author of such wonder. And then He offers you His presence in grace.

Many misconstrue God’s grace as a reward instead of a gift. Some even convince themselves His favor is found through accomplishing good deeds and religious practices. But that is not true. God invites you into His fellowship as a costly and gracious gift, giving you a reason for gratitude, not as a reward for self-righteous effort.

It turns out God’s gift of grace, redemption, is not a “what” but a “who.” In the life and death of Jesus of Nazareth, you have been given the key to personally knowing the God of Glory. Jesus said it plainly, “Whoever has seen me has seen the Father” (John 14:9).

God chose the perfect gift for you, peace with Him through the redemption in Jesus Christ. Pray for people across America to recognize and receive that great gift this Christmas season.

4 But God, being rich in mercy, because of the great love with which he loved us, 5 even when we were dead in our trespasses, made us alive together with Christ—by grace you have been saved— 6 and raised us up with him and seated us with him in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus, 7 so that in the coming ages he might show the immeasurable riches of his grace in kindness toward us in Christ Jesus. 8 For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God, 9 not a result of works, so that no one may boast. 10 For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand, that we should walk in them.
