President Biden Meets Pope Francis

The first lady, secretary of state, and national security advisor accompany the president.

President Biden arrived at the Vatican on Friday to begin his European tour. The president met with Pope Francis and discussed a number of issues ranging from climate change to global poverty. The president was joined by First Lady Jill Biden, Secretary of State Anthony Blinken, and National Security Advisor Jake Sullivan.

The White House stated, “In his audience with Pope Francis today, President Biden thanked His Holiness for his advocacy for the world’s poor and those suffering from hunger, conflict, and persecution.” Pope Francis also affirmed that President Biden could continue to take communion. Recently, American bishops have debated whether or not political leaders who support abortion should be allowed to receive the Eucharist.

As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…

  • That the president seeks the Lord as he continues his tenure in office.
  • That God would keep the American delegation safe during their travels.
  • That Secretary Blinken and Advisor Sullivan give wise advice to President Biden.
