President Joe Biden is participating in a virtual meeting today with G20 leaders regarding the political and economic situation in Afghanistan.

The heads of state will discuss the financial disruption and development issues that have increased since the Taliban took control of that nation. The Afghan Central bank has experienced a cash shortage due to offshore assets being frozen after the Taliban took over. Concerns have been raised over the rising threat of terrorism growing out of the region, as well as the large number of people migrating out of the country and the Taliban’s violation of women’s and human rights.

Italy currently holds the rotating G20 presidency and Italian Prime Minister Mario Draghi said that Qatar, the International Monetary Fund, the World Bank, and the United Nations have been invited to participate in the meeting.

As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…

  • For the president and the foreign leaders who will participate in this meeting.
  • For discernment for those who propose solutions and responses to the various crises that have arisen in Afghanistan.
  • For President Biden and his advisors to seek God’s wisdom in addressing international issues.
