Energy Department Announces Solar Power Goals

Energy secretary projects community solar integration will power 5 million homes by 2025.

On Friday, the Department of Energy announced its goal to have 5 million homes powered by community solar energy by the end of 2025. The department estimates that this move will save $1 billion in energy spending. Although 19 million households have personal solar panels in place, the department says that community solar power distributes energy more efficiently and effectively.

“Community solar is one of the most powerful tools we have to provide affordable solar energy to all American households, regardless of whether they own a home or have a roof suitable for solar panels,” Energy Secretary Jennifer Granholm stated. “Achieving these ambitious targets will lead to meaningful energy cost savings, create jobs in these communities, and make our clean energy transition more equitable.”

As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…

  • For Secretary Granholm to seek God’s wisdom as she begins to work toward this goal.
  • That the jobs created for this project would benefit both individuals and their communities.
  • For the president and administration as broader energy policies are implemented.
