President Joe Biden is at the presidential retreat at Camp David today. He has no public events on his agenda at this time.

On Friday, the president signed the Congressional Budget Justification Transparency Act of 2021. The measure had passed unanimously in the Senate in June and was overwhelmingly supported by the House of Representatives in August. The legislation updates the Federal Funding Accountability and Transparency Act of 2006 to require that agency budget materials are made available to the public online, with the exception of intelligence and national defense agencies.

Members of Congress are working on the reconciliation of the infrastructure bill and federal budget package. Some have voiced concerns over measures that have been added or removed, making the legislation more partisan. Though representatives of the majority have expressed a commitment to bringing the reconciliation bill to the floor in the coming week, a 9-week continuing resolution passed in the House earlier this week in an effort to avoid a possible government shutdown.

As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…

  • For members of Congress as they deliberate the infrastructure legislation.
  • For wisdom for the senators and representatives as they consider passing the federal budget bill.
  • For the president to work with Congress for the good of the nation.
