Pentagon Approves National Guard for September 18 Rally

Extra security brought in for “Justice for J6” rally at the Capitol.

A request from Capitol Police to provide 100 D.C. National Guard troops in case law enforcement requires additional support at Saturday’s “Justice for J6” rally has been approved by Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin. The rally is being held to support those charged in the January 6 incident.

Security preparations have been expanded ahead of the demonstration. Security fencing around the Capitol has been installed and multiple congressional offices have closed. The National Guard troops will be at the D.C. Armory on Saturday and will only be deployed at the request of the Capitol Police in order to protect the Capitol and congressional office buildings, according to the Pentagon.

The Department of Homeland Security has warned of the potential for more violence at the rally on Saturday, saying right-wing extremist groups like the Proud Boys may attend, but there have been no indications of a specific plot DHS says.

As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…

  • For the Capitol Police as they monitor the events on Saturday.
  • For members of the Nation Guard as they provide backup security.
  • For protestors to remain peaceful and neutral as they exercise their right to assemble.
