Authentic or Generic

I can do all things through him who strengthens me.  – Philippians 4:13

What is the last generic product you used? In the pharmaceutical industry, generics hit the market in a big way in 1984 with the passing of the Hatch–Waxman Act.  Today, when the patent on a name-brand drug expires, generics are ready to take their market share immediately. While a generic drug might be just as helpful as its name-brand inspiration, there are no effective generics in the spiritual world.

Many sincere people place their trust in nature, the universe at large, science, the arts, or humanity itself as alternatives to God. However, when life becomes difficult, having faith in a generic belief or hope is like biting into a hollow chocolate Easter bunny. Only air, no substance.

Jesus Christ is God’s only Son. His sacrificial life, death, and resurrection give His followers access to an authentic power the world cannot duplicate. God’s plan of redemption is complete in Christ, including His specific plan for you. If you are wondering how you can possibly navigate the challenges you see on the horizon of your life – STOP! Do not settle for a generic faith. Surrender to Christ, the One who knows you best and loves you the most. Hope in Him is real, based on the strength of His unchanging nature. Faith in Him is firm, based on His promises. If you know Christ, there is not a power on Earth that can overcome God’s will for you.

Pray for repentance for Americans so the nation may receive Creator God’s blessing. Ask that the nation’s leaders will honor the Godly principles that formed the republic and remain faithful to them.

It is he who made the earth by his power,
    who established the world by his wisdom,
    and by his understanding stretched out the heavens.
13 When he utters his voice, there is a tumult of waters in the heavens,
    and he makes the mist rise from the ends of the earth.
He makes lightning for the rain,
    and he brings forth the wind from his storehouses.
14 Every man is stupid and without knowledge;
    every goldsmith is put to shame by his idols,
for his images are false,
    and there is no breath in them.
15 They are worthless, a work of delusion;
    at the time of their punishment they shall perish.
16 Not like these is he who is the portion of Jacob,
    for he is the one who formed all things,
and Israel is the tribe of his inheritance;
    the Lord of hosts is his name.
