Interior Official Attends Opening of NM Tribal School

Principal deputy assistant secretary also discussed land management and economic development.

This past week, Interior Department Principal Deputy Assistant Secretary for Indian Affairs Bryan Newland traveled to New Mexico to meet with members of the Native American community to discuss topics ranging from land conservation to economic development. He also attended the opening ceremony of a newly built Bureau of Indian Education elementary school.

Principal Deputy Assistant Secretary Newland expressed Interior Department support saying, “As part of the Department’s commitment to meaningful engagement with Tribal communities, I’m grateful to have heard directly from Tribal leaders, students and community members about the importance of land conservation and economic development across New Mexico. I appreciated the opportunity to help open a new elementary school at Laguna Pueblo and visit the Chaco Canyon region to see first-hand the incredible land and cultural heritage the Biden-Harris administration is working to protect.”

As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…

  • For Principal Deputy Assistant Secretary Newland to seek God’s wisdom as he carries out his duties.
  • That Interior Secretary Haaland would look to the Lord for guidance as she leads the Interior Department.
  • For the Interior Department as they help to preserve Native American lands and resources.
