President Biden Seeks to Address Cyber Threats

New national security memorandum issued after ransomware attacks.

On Wednesday, President Biden signed a National Security Memorandum (NSM) on “Improving Cybersecurity for Critical Infrastructure Control Systems.” The aim of this executive order is to further protect American cyber assets from ransomware attacks and strengthen any weak points in American cybersecurity. The NSM comes after the attacks on the Colonial Pipeline and JBS Foods.

President Biden’s memorandum directs the Department of Homeland Security’s Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency to develop new goals to measure the performance of the nation’s cybersecurity efforts. It also establishes a new initiative to deploy technology and systems that better alert agencies when a threat has entered a system.

As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…

  • That God would lead the president to protect American systems from cyber threats
  • For the Lord to help DHS create better systems to prevent attacks.
  • That the White House would work with Congress to strengthen national cybersecurity.
