Relationship

The Lord your God is in our midst, a mighty one who will save. – Zephaniah 3:17

You may hear that something happened in the midst of something else. For example, in the midst of the outdoor meeting, a huge gust of wind blew the signs down. Or a friend might ask, “in the midst of all this confusion, how can you stay so calm?” According to Merriam-Webster, “midst” is the interior or central part of a thing or a group. Today’s verse reminds you that God is in your midst. The question for you is whether He is truly at the center… of your life, your thoughts, and your activities.

Take a moment and just meditate on this fact. God is not far off. If you are a follower of Christ, He is with you right now, at this very moment. His Spirit dwells within you, fellowshipping with your spirit. He has positioned Himself in the center. Do you ever move Him aside?

The verse goes on to say, “he will rejoice over you with gladness; he will quiet you by his love; he will exult over you with loud singing.” What an incredible series of emotions God is showing toward you right now… in your midst. Think about that! He so loves being in relationship with you. Allow your heart and mind to absorb this truth. Then join Him in rejoicing with gladness, allow Him to quiet your spirit by knowing how much He loves you, and then sing a song of praise.

Pray for members of the government to find or deepen this relationship with the Father for themselves. Ask God to accomplish His purpose in Washington.

Today’s Verse: Zephaniah 3:17

The Lord your God is in your midst,
    a mighty one who will save;
he will rejoice over you with gladness;
    he will quiet you by his love;
he will exult over you with loud singing.

Where shall I go from your Spirit?
    Or where shall I flee from your presence?
If I ascend to heaven, you are there!
    If I make my bed in Sheol, you are there!
If I take the wings of the morning
    and dwell in the uttermost parts of the sea,
10 even there your hand shall lead me,
    and your right hand shall hold me.
11 If I say, “Surely the darkness shall cover me,
    and the light about me be night,”
12 even the darkness is not dark to you;
    the night is bright as the day,
    for darkness is as light with you.

How precious to me are your thoughts, O God!
    How vast is the sum of them!
18 If I would count them, they are more than the sand.
    I awake, and I am still with you.
