Today, the president is traveling to Crystal Lake, Illinois, a suburb just outside of Chicago. President Joe Biden will visit McHenry County Community College to promote his infrastructure package which includes provisions to make college attendance more affordable. The community college has a workforce development program and a childcare center, programs the president’s agenda promotes.
The president will meet with Illinois Governor J.B. Pritzker, Chicago Mayor Lori Lightfoot, U.S. Representatives Lauren Underwood and Sean Casten, and other community leaders.
Governor Pritzker said of the infrastructure plan, “We passed an infrastructure bill two years ago in Illinois and as a result of that the federal infrastructure bill, when it passes, if it passes, when it passes, means that we will be shovel ready with our matching funds in order to take advantage of the federal dollars that will come from an infrastructure bill.” He added, “So I’m excited about his coming.”
