President Joe Biden and First Lady Jill Biden are flying to Florida today to visit the site where a condo building in Surfside partially collapsed one week ago.

They will meet with Governor Ron DeSantis, Miami-Dade County Mayor Daniella Levine Cava, and other local leaders. They will be receiving a briefing on the current state of rescue and recovery efforts and comfort those who have lost family members.

As rescue workers and first responders continue to search for survivors of the collapse of the 55 units, 145 people are still unaccounted for. On Wednesday, the confirmed deaths from the collapse reached 18. The search has continued despite inclement weather. Surfside Mayor Charles Burkett said that the canine crews are not hampered by wind and rain.

As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…

  • For safety for the president and first lady as they travel.
  • For Governor DeSantis and the local leaders who are supporting efforts to recover victims of the tragedy.
  • For first responders and rescue crews, some from out of state and others from other countries, as they continue their search.
  • For the families and friends who have lost loved ones in the disaster.
