Lina Khan Confirmed to FTC by Senate

President Biden names her Chair of the commission afterward.

On Tuesday, the U.S. Senate confirmed President Biden’s nominee Lina Khan as commissioner of the Federal Trade Commission by a 69-28 vote.

“I’m impressed with her work in this area. I think she’s thought very seriously about monopoly problems,” Senator Josh Hawley of Missouri said of Khan last month. ”I think that her record, her track record, demonstrates that, and I think the kind of voice that she has brought in these issues is a really important one.”

Upon her approval by the Senate, President Biden named her Chair of the FTC. Senator Elizabeth Warren of Massachusetts was supportive of the move, saying, “giant tech companies like Google, Apple, Facebook and Amazon deserve the growing scrutiny they are facing and consolidation is choking off competition across American industries.”

As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…

  • For Lina Khan as she assumes leadership of the FTC.
  • For the president’s administration to seek God’s discernment as nominees are appointed.
  • For U.S. officials as they look to regulate technology companies and prevent monopolies.
