USDA Announces New Climate Initiative

Conservation Reserve Program will have new price determination method.

The Department of Agriculture (USDA) announced this week that it would be launching a new climate initiative designed to put a clearer value on the benefits of the Conservation Reserve Program (CRP). The CRP is a program that pays farmers rent payments to remove their land from production in environmentally sensitive areas.

“Nearly 21 million acres currently enrolled in the program prevent the equivalent of more than 12 million tons of carbon dioxide from entering the atmosphere,” Farm Service Agency Administrator Zach Ducheneaux said of the program. ”Further quantifying program benefits will allow us to better target CRP to achieve continued climate wins across environmentally sensitive lands while strengthening our modeling and conservation planning resources for all producers.”

As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…

  • For the Farm Service Agency as they implement the conservation program.
  • That God would guide the USDA to help the nation protect its food sources.
  • For the president’s administration to seek God’s guidance to steward His creation well.
