Vice President Keynote for Naval Academy Commission

In person ceremony to be held as pandemic recedes.

The Naval Academy’s commissioning ceremony will be held in person this year as more Americans are vaccinated and that nation heads toward public health and pandemic recovery. It will have limited capacity to facilitate social distancing. The keynote speaker rotates every year between the president, the vice president, and the secretary of defense.

Joe Biden gave the speech twice during his tenure as vice president and, last week, representatives of the Capitol announced that Vice President Kamala Harris will deliver the keynote speech for the newly commissioned officers. It will be the first time the Naval Academy will say “yes ma’am” in the call and response typically given in the ceremony.

As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…

  • That the vice president will edify the Naval Academy with her words and presence.
  • For the new Naval Officers that will be commissioned to serve this country.
