Interior Department Outlines New Wildfire Strategies

Announcement released via joint memo with USDA.

Secretary of Agriculture Tom Vilsack and Secretary of the Interior Deb Haaland announced the administration’s new strategies to address the increasing incidents of wildfires throughout the country. “We used to call it fire season, but wildland fires now extend throughout the entire year, burning hotter and growing more catastrophic in drier conditions due to climate change,” said Agriculture Secretary Tom Vilsack in a joint memo with Secretary Haaland.

The Interagency Working Group formed to focus on the issue has been given extra firefighting resources to mitigate the devastation. They hope to collaborate with local firefighters when wildfires arise to funnel those resources to them as necessary.

As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…

  • For relief for the areas of the nation experiencing drought conditions.
  • For Secretaries Vilsack and Haaland as they lead these wildfire protection efforts.
  • For protection for firefighters on the ground who are fighting the rise in wildfires.
